The campus advocates through Crisis Support Services of Nevada support victims of sexual assault at the University of Nevada, Reno, in a confidential and discreet manner.

A sexual assault advocate can help the student, faculty or staff know their rights while providing professional, sincere and empowering advocacy. Victims are cared for and have their needs and concerns addressed in the midst of their crisis.

What Sexual Assault Support is Available at UNR?


Navigating campus life can be a challenge. Compound that with being a victim of sexual assault on a college campus and the world may feel unbalanced, especially when your future hopes and dreams lay in the education you have set your sights on for so long. We are here to help address any of your concerns or fears.

Our goal is to proudly serve individuals of any form of sexual assault and interpersonal violence who have been victimized acutely (within the last 48 hours), recently (within the last year), or historically (over one year or from childhood). We will meet with you to provide you with the best possible resources and support.

Our trained campus advocates are confidential and discrete and provide free support. We will meet with you in our offices on campus or in a discrete public location to provide you with options available to you. We are committed to providing the most professional, sincere and empowering advocacy to you possible whether you are staff, faculty, or student.

How Can a Campus Advocate Help Me?


Our campus advocates provide free, confidential support to any member of the UNR community who has been a victim of sexual assault. Our sexual assault support services at University of Nevada, Reno include:

  • Immediate crisis intervention
  • Accompaniment to the hospital or police interview if desired
  • Safety planning
  • Personal advocacy – assistance with your boss, landlord, professor, etc.
  • Emotional support
  • Appropriate counseling referrals
  • Assistance in filing victim compensation applications
  • Information on available campus and criminal justice support and processes
  • Private and confidential consultation to address any immediate or past concerns
