System Administrator/Data Manager

DESCRIPTION: Crisis Support Services of Nevada was established as an outreach program of the University of Nevada, Reno in 1966 in response to the high rate of suicide in Nevada. Over the years, the Center has continued to grow and evolve in response to community needs. We now address other crises such as sexual assault, domestic violence, substance abuse, and child/elder abuse or neglect to mention just as few. CSS of Nevada maintains online resources for 15 Northern Nevada counties through the Community’s online directory, which links individuals with necessary services throughout our communities. Crisis Support Services of Nevada is a 24/7/365 operation.

The Systems Administrator/Data Manager acts as a support to the organization as a whole to ensure the network and IT infrastructure functions properly, ensuring information flows timely and securely to and from partner organizations, as well as within.

POSITION SUMMARY:The Systems Administrator/Data Manager is responsible for the maintenance, upgrade, and management of the organization’s software, hardware, and networks.  Develops and leverages operational IT systems and extracts/transforms/loads into relevant data systems.  Identifies new ways to improve efficiency in regards to how the organization organizes, stores, and analyzes data with attention to security and confidentiality.  Works closely with internal users to ensure the efficient and proper use of the organization’s technology, offering assistance should any issues arise.

CLASSIFICATION:  Full-time – Salary

COMPENSATION: $50,000-$55,000 Annually plus benefits

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to install, configure and maintain hardware and software as needed
  • Able to assist and train employees in all issues relating to technology, including computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • Able to retrieve call data from our database when requested and on regular intervals for monthly and quarterly reports
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Develop and support regular operational data reporting
  • Monitoring systems and troubleshooting systems issues as they arise
  • Performing proper documentation whenever a task is performed
  • Setting up accounts for new employees
  • Ensuring the system and network is secure from both external and internal threats
  • Implement occasional updates to the company website
  • Manage network servers and technology tools
  • Set up accounts and workstations
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Create and enforce policies for effective data management and security
  • Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
  • Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
  • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, external stakeholders etc.
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and organizational standards
  • Develop reports and perform data extraction when needed
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)
  • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications
  • Able to work in a standard office environment, sitting for extended periods of time
  • Able to move and lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Able to read printed materials and computer screens
  • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently in person and over the phone

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as a data manager preferred
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions
  • Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies
  • Familiarity with coding and programming
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, etc.)
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • AA in computer science/relevant field or equivalent work experience
