About Us

Crisis Support Services of Nevada (CSSNV) is a leading provider of crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and support services. We proudly serve as Nevada’s designated 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provider. Our team is dedicated to offering empathetic support, resources, and advocacy to individuals facing life’s toughest challenges. As we continue to grow and innovate, we seek individuals who are passionate, committed, and ready to make a difference.

CSSNV’s Victim Services Unit (VSU), formerly known as Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS), is a program of CSSNV and was founded in 1979 as a victim response program in collaboration with Washoe County and the City of Reno to provide quality care to assault victims and to help navigate the legal system.

The Role

CSSNV is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Victim Advocate Specialist to provide comprehensive support and advocacy for victims of crimes, particularly during forensic exams. This role also includes administrative responsibilities such as filing reports, managing inventory at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), contributing to program development, and ensuring coverage and compliance with our Sexual Assault Support Services hotline. Additionally, the specialist will contribute in training new interns and volunteers, conduct follow-ups with survivors, and engage in community outreach through tabling at various events. This position is vital in ensuring that victims receive the emotional support, information, and resources they need while also supporting the overall growth and efficiency of the program.

This position places a strong emphasis on supporting and expanding our campus victim advocacy (CVA) program. The role involves providing direct advocacy and crisis intervention services to college students who have experienced sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, stalking, or other forms of interpersonal violence. The advocate will collaborate closely with campus partners—including Title IX offices, campus police, and counseling services—to ensure survivors receive trauma-informed, confidential, and coordinated care. In addition, the position will promote awareness and prevention efforts through outreach, education, and relationship-building with campus communities to strengthen the overall support network for student survivors.

Our headquarters is in Reno, NV, and involves in-person advocacy at the CAC, the facility where we advocate for survivors during their Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE).
