In the 16th episode of Talk it out Tuesdays: Mental Health Awareness: Breaking the Stigma, we discuss mental health, the stigma surrounding mental health, and how to get the help you need before it becomes a life and death crisis.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The purpose of Mental Health Month is to help eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness by raising awareness of mental health conditions and those who have them. One in 5 adults and 1 in 6 youth experience mental illness each year. The stigma that surrounds mental health is a common problem that affects whether or not people seek treatment or even talk about it.
To discuss this important topic, we have Jake Wiskerchen, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Crisis Support Services of Nevada’s Executive Director, Rachelle Tourville Pellissier, and episode host, Connie Wray.
